yesterday, after 2 months of no real exercise, i joined the sisters here in a match of netball. though the last time i played was like standard 6 back when i was light enough to jump high as to shoot the goal. but whatever. i still enjoyed the game. it seems that most of us don't know that much about netball either. as long as we all have the team spirit and determination, we try our best to enjoy the game & not to worry much about the competition. who cares about scores??? hahahahaha. who am i kidding. i care. not!!! but i really sweat. so, i was very satisfied.
today, woke up with a bad body ache. seriously, THE WHOLE BODY. from the netball game of course. showed that i really don't work up that much. whatever. this morning, it was my 1st time ever participating in the CIRCLE K activity. got lucky i guess. why?? haha. we went to Stockton Beach!!! we rode a 4 wheel drive, driven by da great Lance (love ya Lance!!). we went through the sand dune. and may i say. IT WAS AWESOME!!! the place look exactly like a desert. it felt as if we were in a different country. saudi arabia maybe. Lance drove us down a sand mountain which was like 2-STOREY HIGH!!! my heart stopped beating at one moment. hahahahahaha. but it was simply incredible. we also got to slide down while sitting on a 1-storey high sand mountain. once we reached down, i felt like sandman (coz my i was covered in sand). who cares about PH assignment?? who cares about all the muscles i'm supposed to memorise for HUBS??? why worry about all Working Problem research??? to hell with all that. {just at the moment though}
to summarize this whole weekend: it was total COOLNESS!!!
.......back to all the assignments.......~stop~

EARTH HOUR....
it was really interesting to know that such hour in a special day ever existed. i think this campaign is for a really good cause. at least each and everyone of us who are living in this beautiful planet with lots of blessing from Allah can contribute to mother earth. it might be just a little contribution but i truly feel that it can bring a great difference if everyone participate. i know we did, my housemates n me. it was a memorable experience frankly speaking. though all we did was eat and talk with candles n a colourful light (operate by batteries) in the living room. it made our neighbourhood to a halt for a moment n think about great gives we had from the earth. plus it's a great time to deepen my bonding with my fellow housemates. we had a great chat n delicious fried rice (thanx hani & ilia for cooking!). all i want to say is that, do whatever is in our force to help the earth if we ever want it to maintain it's 'well-being' for our children n grandchildren in the future. every deed is a good deed no matter big or small. Allah will repay any good doings from us. Insya-Allah. Amin....

a journey to remember...
Saturday, 14 March 2009
3.30am- woke up
4.00am- had breakfast
4.30am- wheels start rolling
WHY? WHERE? WHO? HOW? All of us 1st year Malaysian sisters went for a trip to SYDNEY!!! With our dearest seniors. By cars which were driven by them. And may I summarize the trip in 3 words, “IT WAS GREAT!!!” truly suited the theme of our jaulah planned by our seniors, a journey to remember….
We went to Paddys Market, Sydney Convention Hall, The Harbour, Sydney Opera House and Royal Botanical Garden. It’s not like we went to that many places but it was an incredible trip. Maybe it was enhanced by the places that we have yet to explore during that time. But to us, it was the people we went with was what it counts. I went together with my now close housemates, superb friends and also amazing seniors!!!
We had such great fun together taking pictures and get crazy and stuff. All those experience really took a whole lot of burden and tension we were all feeling from another whole week of adapting in the life of medical students. Honestly, I had a blast!! With this trip, it made me realize such incredible people in my life that Allah had blessed upon to be a part of my life. I am truly grateful to my Creator, Allah SWT for such great friends and seniors. Plus, another bonus lesson I learnt from the trip was, I can sometime be a good CO-DRIVER. I didn’t sleep at all the whole way back from Sydney though we had such a tiring day and it was really late at night. Mak, Abah, u shud be proud of me!!!
As for classes and tutorials this week, I pledge to myself that I will work harder to perform better this week. Hahaha. Maybe talk more in my tutorials this time around. At least I’m starting to catch up with the FRSs now. I understand better. Even some Australian jokes too. Hahahahahahahahahahaha. Its all good here. And I’m grateful to Allah for that.

class commences...
The 1st week of class is now over. I'm done with my anxiousness about how am I going to go through my 1st week.
Fixed Resource Session a.k.a. Lecture
All I can say is: 'Ya Allah! Please help this humble servant of yours'. I know I wasn't the only one saying this. This also goes to all other fellow Malaysians of my batch. We were all stunned. Haha. Maybe I am exaggerating. It’s just that we were struggling with the different-accent and fast-speaking Australian lecturers. I was trying hard to jot down whatever I heard come out from their mouths. Funny thing is, when I was busy writing, the lecturer was already on another subtopic. At the end of the lecture, I was just left blur. Hahahahahahahha. And seriously. Australian students really speak their minds out. They just raised their hands and spoke out. Comparing the answer floating in my mind with theirs, I feel completely stupid. They were much younger than I am but they are really mature in their thinking skills. When Ain & Nadia asked their questions, we were laughing quietly because the lecturer chose to answer at a slower rate of speaking (maybe got the idea that we got no clue of his lecture). Hahahaha….
Elective: Musculoskeletal Anatomy
Hahahahahaha. It is as scary as it sounds. There were lots of information to be memorized even for the 1st lecture. Totally freaked out!!! I was just paying attention for like 20 minutes the most, then started to scribble around my notebook. Hahahahaha. Bad thing to do but I can’t help it. Maybe it was my fault since I didn’t study 1st before going into lecture. Hahahaha. I’ll make it up on this week. The lab session was SO COOL!!! We got to touch real bones and real muscles from cadavers. AWESOMENESS!!! Can’t wait for the next lab session.
PBL group
To any who doesn’t know, PBL stands for Problem-Based Learning. This method of learning is a totally different method than any method I have encounter in my 19 years of studying in Malaysia. To me, it is an outstanding method. It makes the students work hard for their own knowledge (instead of being spoon-fed!). I met my groupmates and they were totally AWESOME!!! I’m the only Malaysian in my group. Most of my groupmates are taking medicine as their 2nd or 3rd degree. Isn’t that like totally cool?? I can really ‘tabik spring!!!’ these people. They are SUPER-FRIENDLY bunch of people. They are really concern about me (as I’m the only person who uses English as a 2nd language) by saying that I can ask them to repeat or explain to me whatever they are saying as many times as I need until I understand the topic. Since we also have rotations on who will be bringing food into tutorials, they are also concern about what food can they bring because they know that I can only eat HALAL food. INCREDIBLE right??? My dearest groupmates, I LOVE YOU ALL!!!
I guess that’s all on my report about my 1st week. I hope I’ll go through the lectures better for the weeks to come.
P/S: Riman & Fazrul made a surprise visit here last Saturday!!! Super shocking!!! But really glad they came. Thanx guys!!! Will be visiting u guys next weekends too, insyaAllah….

my homey home.....
So this is the rough picture of my house here. It may look small but to us, it's quite big for 4 people. And it feels very homey too in here. As a bonus, it is near to campus just like etiara was to taylors college. Makes me walk to campus everyday. Surely, I can reach the target of 10, 000 steps a day to keep myself fit & healthy!!! I'm currently doing some house shopping to buy new bed linen, curtains n boards to decorate my room. I'm planning to make it PURPLE!!! hahahahha.... I'll post more photos when I'm done doing just that.

Newcastle, Aussie!!!
Haha. This post entry doesn’t mean that I have already gotten my internet connection in my house. It’s just that I am too impatient to update my blog. So, I had to update this blog through the campus’s Huxley Library.
Well, I have already been here in Newcastle, Australia for a full 3 weeks. So I have dedicated this entry to fully comment and share my experience here. Haha, just like an essay, I will divide my comments into a few aspects.
WEATHER
Truthfully, I really think that the weather here is insanely unpredictable. From the day we 1st land here, the day was extremely hot when we were expecting it to be at least cooler than Malaysia for goodness sake. Maybe Allah thinks that we weren’t grateful enough that for da whole next week, the days were rainy, very wet, strong wind & extremely cold. Seriously cold!! I can’t even step on the marble floor of my house, just jumping over from one carpet to another. Alhamdulillah, we learnt our lesson and were grateful with whatever weather Allah decides for us. For the time being, the weather is just nice and we are loving it!!!
PEOPLE
The local community is VERY FRIENDLY!!! We really expected that the community is some sort of like the city people back in Malaysia. On contrary, the people here can just greet us no matter who we are, what religion we are in or what skin colour we have. I am very impressed.
As for the Malaysian community here, all I can say is: SUPER HELPFUL!!! The seniors here are extremely nice to us n very helpful too. They have made our lives, as the 1st year medical students here, going on smoothly. We are able to adapt with an ease with the help from there incredible people. To all the brothers & SISTERS in Newcastle, honestly, from my heart deep down inside: THANK U VERY MUCH!! WE REALLY APPRECIATE IT!! MAY ALLAH BLESS ALL OF U!!!
ZEBRA CROSSING
Hahahaha. This is another aspect that has made me ‘tabik spring!!!’ towards there Australians. Here, cars will immediately stop for pedestrians to cross the road though they haven’t even reach the zebra crossing as yet. I am totally amazed. I mean, when can we even see this happening anywhere in Malaysia. I’m not saying Malaysians are bad people but we can’t deny that most Malaysians can be very rude on the road behind the wheels. Here in Aussie, we even laugh crossing the road thinking that we are treated like royals. (We even made like sort of the ‘princess wave’ while crossing, haha! Very jakun people we are…)
CLOSSING TIME
This is something I don’t quite like about the lifestyle here. Everyday, all the shops & offices close at 5pm at most. Seriously!!! They don’t even have a ‘kedai runcit’ that opens 24 hours (no 7-eleven here by the way). Weekends are worst, some shops don’t even open on Sundays & close very early on Saturdays. During the weekdays, our classes finish at 5pm, making our shopping trip to be cancelled each day. But the daily groceries can be bought in Woolsworth n Coles (which open until 8pm, I think). But come to think of it, this culture is actually very good. There Australians really care about quality time with family. This is the main reason of this early closing time everyday. They make sure that all their job is done by 5pm that they can enjoy the rest of the evening with their loved ones.
ATTIRE
Most Australians like to wear casual attires no matter where they are going, even to campus. U can’t even recognize a medical student when u see one because most of them wears like they are going to the beach or doing gardening or something. Even the lecturers!!! Very simple people there Australians are. But sometimes, their simplicity is brought to a wrong level. Some people, can only wear shorts without t-shirts when doing their grocery shopping. What’s worst is that, they are some people, who I don’t know what is going on in their minds, don’t even wear any type of footwear going around wherever. Crazy huh?! They will just simply walk with bare feet on the hot pavement around the campus or even at the shopping mall. I even saw once that a whole family, the parents with their small kids, not wearing any shoes or slipper shopping in the mall. Up till now, I just can’t make myself to rationalize this behaviour.
I guess I will just stop here. If I continue, I think I might be taking most of my readers time. Hahahahahaha. Not that there are that much more comment. Is just that the aspects I have mentioned are the major ones.
Feeling very excited+anxious all at the same time now. Why?? Because my class officially starts tomorrow. Will be meeting more 1st year Australian medical students. Might feel a bit intimidated but what the heck. If other Malaysian can do it, of course I can too!!!
I will update more about my classes and Australian friends soon.
